Perfect Timing

Kind of away from managing photos this week.....  sometimes a good thing....

But wanted to mark the moment of meeting the fine young baby- Judah- yesterday.

For this child I have prayed for over a year.......  and in God's good and perfect timing--

he was a gift to his parents Julie and Jay.

And as I sat and saw the sparkle in the brilliant blue eyes of Judah-

I wondered what had been arranged in the universe

and put in place and moved around for his arrival.

Not the carefully planned timing of mom and dad -- but the perfect timing for Judah.

What had to be learned, felt, mastered and lost for mom and dad ---

for the perfect timing for Judah.

And the beaming face of a mom in love, in love with all there is of mothering...

the diapers, the life disruptions, the constant rearrangements of priorities,

the feedings,

the standing up and rocking back and forth and jiggling at the same time.

And in God's perfect timing for Judah-

are parents learning to -

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful."  Colossians 4:2

That in the perfect timing for Judah they will see the perfect timing-

for two parents to understand and begin to see the universe opened to them in

living their eternal life now,

and the joy of bringing that relationship- because of Jesus-

to the one they love so dearly.

So at the outdoor table of the coffee shop-

God gave me a glimpse of eternity in brilliant blue eyes.

Thank you Lord!

  1. When I read this today, I sobbed...again. I have wept for this child so many times. Long before he was born, so often when I look in on him sleeping at night, and when I hear the number of other people who have pleaded with God to bring us such a blessing. I have never doubted the power of prayer, but I have also never understood it the way I do now. So thank you - for your prayers and for all the comfort, peace, contentment, endurance and finally for the beautiful child God gave me in answer to the prayers of the faithful. I look forward now, more than ever, to meeting Judah's brothers and sisters one day when we are all together for eternity. And in the meantime, I look forward to the next sweet little smile from my baby. :)
