Bible Marginalia-Be Still

Bible Marginalia Series- #72

Psalm 46

"God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear
though the earth gives way,
though the mountains
be moved into the heart of the sea,
though the waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling."
v. 1-2

Be still and know that I am GOD,
I will exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress."
v.10-11

Images here of all things
 falling apart in the world.
YET,
the Lord remains-
He is our security.
When I feel the need to fix the
problems that rain down
all around me,
take a deep breath.
Be still.
KNOW.
Rest.
Join the Lord
in His work-
present and among us.
