I Prayed for You

Over the Easter break I was hearing
about the Kindergarten class
at St. Matthew in Walled Lake, Michigan
and part of their prayer practice discipline.
I had sent the resource created
by Kathryn Stanis
for Visual Faith Ministry
to daughter Jessica.
On their Friday
"Prayer Walk"
 they deliver
the prayers to teachers and staff
in the building.
They color and pray
for the teacher or staff person they choose.
If they need help with spelling
for a word they just ask for help.
Jessica  took the staff photos sheet
from their school
and has this placed in the prayer center.
Students place a finished prayer
in the pocket beside the staff list
till it is time to deliver them.

Classroom prayer station.
Each student has a numbered pouch
 and friends
can also pray for each other,
and place a prayer
in the numbered pouch of a friend.
Teacher Jessica takes them out,
adds a hole punch
and puts them on an O ring
 to make a prayer book.
This is collected throughout the year.
At the end of the year this will be one of the
"Kindergarten artifacts."

Teaching Visual Prayer
with young children
gives them
a way to bless others.
What a gift.
