Sabbath Rest

 

A few days away this week for rest. 

Pastors have a hard time catching Sabbath rest. 

It has to be planned and carved out.

Some time for catching fish in the golden hour.

Celebrating John's birthday and our first meal out

 since the start of the COVID shut down in March 2020.

Much to be thankful for in the start of the next birth year.

A beautiful evening sunset.

Shades of green-

reflected on the water.

A deep breath of rest-recharging,

that we may work from rest.

One in Christ-

Ephesians 2:11-22

As Gentiles we were at 

one time separated from Christ,

but we have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Through Jesus we have access in one Spirit to the Father.

We are no longer aliens.

We are fellow citizens with the saints 

and members of the household of God.

This is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets-

 and Christ himself is the Cornerstone.

The whole thing grows together as a structure

 joined together and grows 

into a holy temple in the Lord.

In him we are being built together 

into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

He dwells in ME.

Spiritual Blessings in Christ

Ephesians 1:3-14

"In him we have redemption through his blood, 

the forgiveness of our trespasses, 

according to the rites of his grace, 

which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight

 making known to us the mystery of his will, 

according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ."

The word that popped out in this section of Scripture-

is LAVISHED....

Christ grants so many things to us through grace.

Unearned lavished grace.

He is in charge- with his wisdom and insight.

Nothing is up to us...

just open hands and hearts and 

receive the lavish grace goodness.

The bounty of spiritual blessings-

through Christ- is my life blessing.

Virginia Family Time- 2 July 2021

Part 2 of the Virginia Trip

Troops in the park- Yahoo!

We loved our pool time.

 In the water with so many friends!

10 extra to sleep and 17 to feed- 

that is all hands on deck and all space up for grabs.

Uncle Josh is a hit with his Sno-cone machine.

Helpers washed-

dishes, the counter, each other and the floor.

The littlest one- Hudson- gets lots of snuggles.

Jonah is sitting.  Sitting.

Yes- 2 seconds he was sitting.

This is just the BEST.

Gigi has a bike to help out with exercise after her

Total Knee Replacement. 

The guys are checking it out.

We sent the 7 young adults to watch the DC fireworks.

They couldn't remember the last time they had been 

"out together" without kiddos.

Worth the journey even with the 

long wait dealing with traffic afterwards.

Papa and Gigi kept the 9 Dengrands.

HERE- 6 down and sound asleep.

Sweet Hadley holds her own with the 8 boys.

Hudson- the littlest- loves his playmate.

Family Worship.

We have been together in worship

 each week since March 2020.

As the families start moving back to church,

 we will miss this very special time together.

We will have to set up a teaching and singing time with all.

What a blessing to have this time together.

Cars and facepainting.

An obstacle course was named " The Baptism Course."

After completing the run-

 there was a bucket of water to 

dump over your head as you said-

"I am a baptized Child of God."

Snuggles, books and marble run with Papa.

Paul's Visions and His Thorn

For My Power is made 

perfect in weakness- says the Lord.

Paul states that the insults, hardships, persecutions 

and calamities are places 

where the Lord shows His strength.

We can be assured that Paul 

had some signifiant challenges- 

but we don't know what they were.

 In spite of them, Paul did his work for the Lord.

"For when I am weak, then I am strong."

Help me to remember this phrase, Lord, 

that I may not boast or be conceited.

May I give you credit-

 that all I do is with your power and strength.

What a gift of grace.

 It is enough. You are enough.

You are sufficient. Amen.

Encouragement to Give Generously

The Greek Word Charis- means favor or grace.

Paul here is speaking words of hope for what

 he is seeing in the churches of Macedonia.  

Those with little give a lot.  

They have an abundance of Joy,

 even in their extreme poverty.

For they give according to their means, 

even beyond.

What grace there is in our lives 

when we give much and graciously.

Lord, open my heart for this more and more.
