The Museum of the Bible

                                                  The Museum of the Bible 

 opened on Nov. 17, 2017 in 

downtown Washington, DC.
The museum’s building location and design 
were announced in 2012 
when the Green family
 (founders of Hobby Lobby)
 purchased the 
1923 Terminal Refrigerating 
and Warehousing Co. building,
 two blocks from the National Mall  
that used to be the Washington Design Center
 in Washington, D.C. 
The estimated $400 million project updated
 the historically protected structure as well as 
adding two additional floors
 and a rooftop café and garden. 
The building's 1923 original red brick,
 architecture and ornamentation was restored,
 with new bricks imported from Denmark.  

We made a trek there this week

 to check out the space and exhibits.

 We were able to spend some time

 in the IllumiNations exhibit.

With my love for Bible Journaling,

 these early books were a delight to see.

 This visit included taking our 

one-year-old grandson Levi and his mom, Sara.

Levi loved The World of Jesus of Nazareth

where there is a wonderful replica

 of what Nazareth might have looked like 

when Jesus lived there. 

In fact, the synagogue is almost an exact replica

 of the one in the Village of Nazareth 

that we visit on our trips to Israel.

The hands-on Children's Gallery 

also was an active spot for a little guy too.

The Museum of the Bible

 is a beautiful building.

It will host special exhibits 

from prestigious museums 

and institutions around the world.
It will take a few more trips 
there to understand all 
the things located here.
