The Summons

June 1, 2012- The Founder's Inn
Virginia Beach, Virginia

A beautiful song summarizes the events of this past weekend. At the District convention there was - Prayer at mid-day for the election of the District President.

We sang this song-

The Summons by John Bell and Graham Maule

Will you come and follow Me
If I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know
And never be the same?
Will you let My love be shown,
Will you let my Name be known,
Will you let My life be grown
In you and you in Me?

Will you leave yourself behind
If I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind
And never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare
Should your life attract or scare?
Will you let Me answer pray'r
In you and you in Me?

Will you love the "you" you hide
If I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside
And never be the same?
Will you use the faith you've found
To reshape the world around,
Through my sight and touch and sound
in you and you in me?

Lord, Your summons echoes true
When you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow You
And never be the same.
In your company I'll go
Where Your love and footsteps show.
Thus I'll move and live and grow
In you and You in me.

by John Bell and Graham Maule

Sung in a convention hall with mostly male voices-

and then about 2 minutes later a vote-
My dear husband, John, was called to be the District President of the Southeastern District-LCMS

Later in the weekend- headed out
The feet called to follow
Roses presented to me after the election
a here is the beautiful song-

  1. what a beautiful song, it resonates in my heart. I too was called to a different life 6 years ago when I was called to adopt 3 sisters from Ukraine. As I live in grow in Him, he gives me the strength and the wisdom to do what He has called to me. I love you both and will be praying for the summons on your lives!
May I post this on my blog, love the song and the link.
