Worship into the Week- Out of the Whirlwind

 Out of the Whirlwind-
Job 38:1-11

Life piles up and and gets frenetic
and the noise can become too loud
to hear the voice of God.
We don't mean for it to happen,
but it just does.
Job was in the pits
in the dire situation of his life.
Hope was dismal and
there wasn't much of a way out.
But then...
out of the whirlwind comes
the voice of God as He begins to speak for Job.
The story starts to change for Job.
This is also the great reminder that the Lord
speaks right into our whirlwinds of daily life.

Worship into the Week- Do It

I will do it.

Ezekiel 17:22-24

The hope and promise of restoration to Israel

tells everyone that He is still in this story.

God is managing things on this earth even when

high and mighty powers think they are in control.

God takes care of the humble and lowly,

even when it doesn't seem that way at the time.

Out of what was presumed dead, God declares-

" I am the LORD; I have spoken, and I will do it."

Out of this twig will come shade for ALL.

The Jews and the Gentiles.

We must always remember that YAHWEH

is sovereign over all of history.

His hand is both judge and mercy.

Jonah is 5!

THIS one had to wait till
2 brothers did the birthday thing this year.

Then it was Jonah's turn to celebrate!!!

AND 5 it is!  Yea!!!

First there is some pizza for the hungry troops.
There are always brother helpers for gift opening.

Some solar system things. Some pool toys.
A book or two.
Some glow in the dark new PJ's.
The BIG DEAL was a brand new bike and helmet.
 No handmedowns.
Gift opening is always fun
and so was a pre-birthday family outing.

A momma and Jonah moment.
Jonah you are a fun little guy
and we are so blessed to have you in our family.
May God bless your year of 5!

Worship into the Week- The Fall

Worship into the Week-
Genesis 3:8-15
The Fall

I spend a lot of time in the garden.
It would be amazing to take
an evening stroll with God.
The "Golden Hour" is ruined forever with the
fall of Adam and Eve.
"What is this you have done?" God asks.
Reminds me of the parent of pretty normal toddler.
And the toddler runs behind the couch.
So many times I think the all-knowing God
 just might miss my mistake.
Or, I jump to the defense to find all
 the excuses for my choice.
It always ends poorly.
Adam and Eve certainly must have
wished for a rewind button.
Though our reading ends here,
this is the beginning of our GRACE story.
So thankfully, this bad ending
was the the start of an incredible redemption plan.

Worship into the Week- Sabbath

 Worship into the Week-Sabbath
Deuteronomy 5:12-15

The Sabbath is a one day a week gift to me.
God mandated that the world rest
from their work each way.
This is one of the ways He takes care of us.
We need this in a world that has just revved up
 the TO DO list,
to an unbearable pace.
We have a challenging time making ourselves stop.
About 18 years ago, my husband John and I
began to explore more about keeping the Sabbath.
A tough job for a clergy family.
But, we read great books and made some changes.
We are STILL trying to find ways
that make this a day for a "deep breath."
So on this continued journey of Sabbath
exploration I am blessed for God's
great gift of GRACE along the way.

The Reno Story- May 2024

Our family has lived in this house for 34 years.

We added this deck right after we moved in and have loved it.

It was showing the wear and tear of time and weather

and we needed to redo the space.

Years of talking about how we use the house

and how we Want to use the house,

led to the decision to make some big changes.

Since this blog is for telling our family story,
I will document the changes here each month.
I publish the blog each year into a book
 so that we can REMEMBER
the flow and rhythm of life.
Many of our friends are downsizing.
But we added 13 to our family.
It was a great house for 5.
18 is a different story.
So we are upsizing.
May 2024 included taking down the deck
and some site prep work.
We have talked about this for SOO LOONG
that we are a bit stunned to finally see something happening.
(so are our neighbors and family)
So there were alot of plants to move
and rehome or give away.
Whole tubs went to new places to love.
Forms went up and concrete got poured.

So this was May.
I will give more directions
about just what is happening as things
begin to take shape.
May had LOTS of rain so things were slowed up a bit.
But, that is kind of the story
with this much outside work to do.

We will see what the month of June brings along.

Calendar Journaling- May 2024

Calendar Journaling

May 2024

What is the STORY of your devotional life?

I couldn't seem to ever remember mine.

Or recall what I had read-even a few hours later.

This practice allows me to chart the course.

It gives me the opportunity to SEE

what the Holy Spirit might want me

 to notice in my month.

                        A practical, doable, grace-filled process.

This has been a real blessing in my life.

Four colored pencils and a

Micron pen.
