Worship into the Week- Trinity

Worship into the Week-
John 8 :39-59

Only part of this section was the Lectionary reading
 for this past Sunday,
but I think it helps to have the larger portion
to read to get a better context.
It helps to read the previous section
to understand why the Jewish leaders
were so upset with Jesus that they
picked up stones to throw at him.
Jesus had told them they were
children of the devil because
they did not "hear" His words.
That was maddening enough.
Then He tells them that His Father is God.
Last straw.
This section helps to "flesh out"
other readings for Trinity Sunday.
I love to think about Jesus
and this Three in One mystery.
Complicated even for the most learned Bible scholar.
"Before Abraham was, I am."
He would be the Light for all Nations.
He was not shackled with earthly realms.
 He was without boundaries.
Most of all- He was not alone.
All of His earthly journey
was with the presence of the Spirit and His Father.
What comforting HOPE for me today-
that even though I cannot comprehend this gift to me,
I journey HERE-
not alone.
