Worship into the Week- Acts 20: 17-35
An amazing reading to work with while
we were actually in Ephesus this week.
Our 2025 Tour group in Ephesus
The Library of Celsus- Ephesus
This was built after the time when Paul
would have been there.
Curetes Street would have been familiar to Paul,
part of his daily walking with interactions along the way.
The Library was built from 114-117 CE as a monumental tomb for the Roman Senator Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus, governor of the province of Asia, who financed the construction using his considerable wealth. It was destroyed by fire with the invasion of the Goths in 262 BC or an earthquake.
What would have been the cultural impact in Ephesus
for Paul would have been the Temple of Artemis-
known as one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.
A large cult of Artemis was thriving in Ephesus.
Paul was dealing with church leaders hearing all
sorts of things to follow and given as TRUTH.
He had asked the leaders from Ephesus
to come and meet with him.
His words were to guard themselves,
take care of your flock,
and work hard to help the needy.
We see the words here:
It is more blessed to given than to receive.
When he left on the ship he knew
he would never see them again.
So many things in our world today shout- TRUTH.
It is so important to listen to the
respected and faithful leaders.
