Visual Faith- Fort Wayne, Indiana

A great Visual Faith event in Fort Wayne, Indiana
 this past Friday evening.
Two members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church
in Fort Wayne obtained Thrivent Action grants
 for $250 each.
Publicity in their own church forums,
as well as community outreach
and sharing on social media
brought in guests from a variety of communities.
This great team of  L to R:
Lana Hille,
 Pamela Bryan, Nayva Mulder,
Teresa Davis and Faith Harless
worked together bringing their own gifts
to plan and host a two hour Introductory event
for Visual Faith- that was FREE for participants.
 I was able to bring
Show and Tell for this event.
 Witness of the STORY
of what the Lord has done in my life.
So that I may witness to His faithfulness,
and encourage others in their own personal
IEP- Individual Education Plan
 in their Spiritual Formation.
 That they may BLESS OTHERS.
Concordia friends found each other
at the event for a hug and catch up time.
There were door prizes
and fun gifts for all attendees.
We tried some experiments with
 Praying Scripture and Coloring.
We talked about ways to slow down,
pay attention and deal with distractions.
We talked about HOPE for a new story
in our prayer life and time in His Word.

A blessing for me was that there
 were friends of mine
 from my
 growing up congregation
 of Bethlehem Lutheran Church,
Ossian, Indiana.
 There were ministry connection friends
and a high school best friend,
and my two sisters.
 Moms and daughters,
Old friends and new friends.
We learned how the VRSLY app on the iPhone
(and probably something similar on other phones)
could allow them all to be
deployed digital missionaries.

The Lord is blessing this movement
of Visual Faith and we give Him thanks.

Here and About - Tecumseh, Michigan

Time to explore a bit on some beautiful
 Spring days in Southeast Michigan

If you stop by this delightful town it is good to know
they do not pronounce the name of their town -
like they do in Tecumseh, Nebraska.
 The Michiganders say Tecumsee.

This little guy was a trooper.
Stores fit an umbrella stroller well.
Once in a great while on "the hunt"
you can actually find
what you are looking for on your list.
This vintage grocery store food display rack-
has been given new life as a
vertical toy storage space for grandson Jack.
Totes on sale- Michael's
and a 20% off all purchases to boot.

Love the architectural details
 in these small towns.
Tecumseh was incorporated in 1824
in Lenawee County, Michigan,
where M-50 crosses the River Raisin.
 Population about 8,400.
 We had lunch here:

Another great spot with wonderful displays-
Where we found
vintage table cloths - $8 apiece.
Always great to stop for ice cream.
If you have a day out with girlfriends-
the British Pantry is a great stop -
everyone in town gave it a high five.

Funky photo but a fun day together
on an Easter Monday no-school day.

Lenten Journey Calendars- 2017

The Lenten Journey Calendars-
 2017
Sybil MacBeth calendar
With this calendar I used the devotional booklet-
Mercy, Passion and Joy-
Reflections from the Writings of C.S. Lewis
Lenten calendar design by Bev Wicher.
This calendar Journey was called-
Faith Facts for Lent by Paul L. Maier.
This calendar design is by Pat Maier.
The devotions used for this one was
Living the Gospel Life-
 Lenten Reflections, by various authors.
I never really planned to do
3 calendars for Lent this year.
There were just 3 devotion books
 I wanted to read.
Then I couldn't decide which one
I wouldn't do a calendar for this year.
I find it interesting that the words for each day
make such a RICH tapestry for the journey.
It is also a blessing that this
spiritual practice is so "forgiving."
Get behind a couple days on a calendar or 2?
Then catch up as you can.
Remember this is about
"do as you can- not as you can't."
It was also fun to see snippets
 of calendars of friends
 who were participating
along the way during Lent.
All in all - this discipline has been a blessing.

Calendars used here can be found
in the Files section in the
DC Metro Visual Faith Facebook Community
