Vintage Storage- Bible Journaling

Found this old, sort of beat up shelf 

with lots of little drawers in

North Carolina.

Needed a really good cleaning up.

Decided to just soak the plastic drawers.

Ah-  maybe add in some baking soda.

Used the one from the refrigerator.

Ya- time to replace that one anyhow.

The cardboard labels were pretty well gone.

Time to redo those.

So- new labels and clean.

Ready for my Bible Journaling corner.

A place to organize some

 of the "smalls" for

 labeling and illustrating projects.

Found this same one on eBay for $75-
(and one for $120)
so mine was a deal for $20.
I kinda like the faded lettering on mine-
it fits the more muted colors when it hangs out.
Don't be afraid to give a good cleaning
 to an old vintage piece.
It just might be the storage piece
 that brings organization to your craft center.
And yes- for those of you that know me-
it's vertical space.

Vintage Storage- Essential Oils

This was purchased a couple of years ago-

thinking it might help sort things

 in the garage redo.

Storage of small things.

A place for everything.

It was still empty.

SOOOOOO....

Cleaned it up,

set it out in the sun.

 No, I am NOT painting it.

 It is just the sort of chippy, 

worn and rusty-

that I love.

And paid for- just like it is.

 But the drawer bottoms 

could have a touch of update.

Scrapbook paper to the rescue.

The one divider comes out so it- 

so there weren't THAT many

 squares to measure and cut.

 So I have tried all sorts of ways

 to store the Essential Oils in the house. 

Need them close by- Easy to find.

 And not all over the place.

 Three little drawers.

 With Dividers.

And one full size drawer.

Measuring 6 inches wide.

6 inches high. 

And 9 inches deep.

 On the counter.

Hidden storage.

Perfect size.

And home for the Essential Oils.

Time for some lavender

 in the diffuser.

When the Loft Becomes the Nursery

A one bedroom apartment- with a loft.

And a baby on the way.

Time to rethink the space 

for the arrival of this little guy.

Some vintage goods-- 

already had the chalkboard shelf.

So the loft is all ceiling and 

very open and with lots of LIGHT.

Not too cozy, not too private, 

and no way to regulate lighting.

So 98" Gray IKEA drapes-----

Wire curtain rod

 attached to the walls.

Used clips to attach the drapes.

Can open them. 

But in a rental- a great option 

for "making a room when there isn't one".

Storage baskets.

Some from Target and Home Goods.

And using what you got.

Needed a very small spot to set

 a Bubba of water and a phone

Used a swivel piano stool with a tapestry cover

topped with a hammered aluminum tray

to give some stability for things placed here.

On the landing to the loft- 

added a vintage map garland

And the visual prayer for this child.

"For this child I prayed; 

and the Lord hath given me

 my petition which I asked of him."

Nursery Nesting

Telling a bit of the story of getting ready-

 back when our daughter, Laura,
 was making the nest

 for new grandson -Griffin.

She found the bottom half of an old door

 with neat key opening that had been made

 into a shelf in a thrift store.

Then an old window with a single pane

 was placed above to make it look like one unit.

A photo from the "waiting series"

was blown up and added to the clear glass frame.

Another photo for the window and the shelf with

old baby shoes and Willow Tree figurine gifts.

Hmmm-- maybe with animals and the baby shoes.

An old art teaching book sitting on 

stacked boxes for storage.

 An old frame had been retrofitted with peg board

 and it made the perfect gathering spot for animal friends,

 teethers, and all things soft and cuddly.

A comfy recliner was brought in for feedings

 and cuddling. With a treasured baby blanket 

that had been made for dad- Joshua.

A vintage Noah's ark print set

 the color scheme for the nursery-

brown and soft green and blue.

A Jerusalem cross brought back from Israel

 this past January tops the grouping.

A precious Richard Hook photo of Jesus

 and child from Aunt Lois.

 Large tag board letters were covered to

 make an initial shelf.

Simply tore pieces of the same

 vintage maps and used Mod Podge.

Some childhood favorite books

  are now board books for little ones.

 Propped in a box on the wall makes it easy

 for a quick change out or to grab and read.

 Working with a theme of old maps,

  used vintage state maps

 to make folded paper medallions.

 Added a smaller one

 and topped with a painted wood circle from

Michael's and a large letter in black.
Strung on twine with pom pom yarn
that keeps the medallions
 from sliding all together.

for taking apart and shipping the crib

 across country from Las Vegas. 

With the most amazing notes and instructions. 

Ever.

 All the Blank kids started out here with LOVE.

Hard to get photos in the tiny room

 but here is the name banner over the crib.

Added a changing spot on top of 
handed-down "family" desk.

A tall green painted shelf - 
the perfect size for books and 
and scavenged baskets from around the house,
serves as closet storage.

Another bookcase retrofitted with baskets.

A punched circle and some vintage ribbon 
Makes sorting and storing simple.
