Logos 365- Living God's Plan

Starting out on a journey in 2023
 with a word- HENENI.
Hebrew for Here I Am.
Wasn't sure if this Visual Faith® Ministry project
would be one I engaged with this year.
Always takes some prayerful time to discern what to add,
and if something else needs to be deleted.
Seeing what there is to learn from Moses and Samuel.
Learning to better listen for God's call.

So- starting a journal to put together
 the learning in one spot.
The new thoughts. The revisited ideas.
I have vowed to keep it simple and not overwhelming.
But, I do love some great Gelli prints from my stash.
Word study is always interesting.
This one is more of a phrase in English.
I wasn't sure about this project or my word.
In fact, I had been running away from Hineni.
Then last week I grabbed the printed pages
to join the VFM Day of Prayer Lectio Divina time.
And there it was-
the verse I had been looking at right there-
 in the study of YAHWEH.
Hineni-
Here I am, Lord.
Direct this path this year.

Maybe you would like to join me?
It is not too late.
Here is the simple packet to get started.

Heart Roundup

Ending up the Valentine Week
with sharing some of the things
hanging out from a Creative Haven
event this week.
I used a heart gift from my friend Bonnie
as the center focus for this mixed media piece.
Packing material makes a great
base overlay on a flat canvas.
Three of these canvas projects
were made for each of my daughters.
A Creative Haven project from 6 years ago-
the circle medallion.
Grade school Valentines.
So, I have officially been getting
these out of a vintage candy box
and looking at the names on the back
and praying for these long-time friends
 for fifty years now.
Sometimes a Valentine
mixed media project
is not about red and pink.

 O my soul-
praise Him.

Sometimes it is a vintage chicken feeder
to hold small floral plates and a cache of hearts.

 Vintage Valentines
in a seed pack holder.

So I am reminded-
Our hearts take hold on Thee.

I pray thee dear Lord Jesus,
my heart to keep and train.
that I thy holy temple,
from youth to age remain.
Amen.

Creative Haven- Open Studio

So what happens at a
Creative Haven Open Studio?
Well, a little bit of everything.
Some time working on margins
 in our Journaling Bibles.
Catching up on what's happening
in the lives of our friends,
or new friends.
Trying out a new medium or technique.
Finding the just right washi tape,
or seeing a new product like- envelope wraps.
Time to finish up some Journaling started earlier.
Or color in one that you just finished lettering.
Or practicing your lettering style for Easter cards
you are making to send.
Using old hymn pages
to highlight your Lenten thoughts,
and making the dedication page for a new Bible.
Or an Easter canvas made -
ready to display in the home.

Sometimes Creative Haven is just about
SPACE- in the margins of our lives-
to catch up with a friend,
sit around a table and eat supper together,
 congratulate a soon-to-be mom,
or check out some Lenten devotionals.

Bring your own things to work on
or find it when you arrive.
Always something to learn and share
when we are gathered here.
Thanks to all who came!

Fall Mixed Media- #4- Creative Haven

A few more Fall mixed media projects.
This one designed and created
 by Melinda Ransdell
designed and created by Beth Benham

Because once in awhile your friends
are over and they see something
and they want to make it
and you just have to pull out all the stuff,
and make a mess and craft together.
And it is good.

My work created for a friend-
old book page ruffle strips on the bottom
handmade paper layers

scrapbook paper wrapped cereal box cardboard
Ideals magazine paper from 1957-
copy of a 1907 Thanksgiving card
Tissue paper flower with a Sizzix die cut

All gifts to be delivered this week.

Fall Mixed Media Projects Round up

Fall Mixed Media Round Up.
I got inspired and decided
it was time for treats to siblings and nieces and
spouses to nephews for Thanksgiving Gifts this year.
The Key to this idea working
is to have a number of the
tissue wrapped cereal boxes in stash and ready to go.
Then someone (I honestly don't remember)
was cleaning out "stuff" this summer
and I got a phone call
that they were bringing things over--
and saying- like-well- because
they didn't know who else
would want this  STUFF -but YOU- Connie.

So some kind of towel sample
became the cloth base
for this Fall whimsy project.
And someone cleared out
scrapbooking supplies and old jewelry.

And then I had a purchased
something cute at a vintage tag sale.
And they wrapped it in
brown tissue paper to protect it.
And someone had flower assemblage pieces-
waiting for a project.
The helpful thing in mass production
is using a base pattern for all of them-
but not making them all alike.
Then the projects go quickly and
then they are boxed in the mail.
And arrive in Indiana
 long before Thanksgiving Day.
A gift this far in advance
of a Holiday should be noticed-
since early is maybe not my trademark.
