Worship into the Week- Profound Mystery

Worship into the Week-
Wives and Husbands
Ephesians 5:22-33

God has a good plan for marriage and family.
It can be countercultural in these days.
It is a plan for His protection of husband and wife.
I love thinking about the profound mystery
and all the words that connect this relationship.
Holy. Cherished. Made one. Sanctified.
Respect. Loved. Bride of Christ.

God wants the best of home for His people.

The Gospel of Mark and the Art of Sally Beck- Part 4

Devotional Journaling-
Using the art of Sally Beck
from the Visual Faith website.
Chapters 10-12.

Adding watercolor, some colored pencil
and filling out with Scripture surrounding the image.
Some scrapbook paper, washi tape,
an embellishment here and there.
Noticing some things I may
 have missed before this time.
Looking for spirit nudges
of what I need to pay attention to right now.
Looking for places I need to grow
or behaviors that need changed.
Thankful for some time to spend in God's Word.
So grateful for this relationship that is such a blessing.
Daughter of the KING.

Waiting on Meatloaf

At Jenny's Farm Stand
and Cider Mill in Dexter, Michigan

So I have been in Michigan this last week-

waiting on baby Meatloaf to arrive.

It is a surprise whether this adds

to our total of 8 grandsons or ups

the odds a bit to girl #2.

But, a 4 year old brother is REALLY

certain that no matter what-

the baby's name is MEATLOAF.

Middle name is DeeDeeDee.

So we are going with that...  for now.

So on a not too hot day we went to Jenny's

where there were really big Percheron horses,

goats to pet, some rabbits and a rooster strutting around.

The horses are on full duty for hayrides in the fall.

The horses were sired by a famous horse- King Kong

and they have the white marking on their head.

                          Beautiful red angel wing begonias

 decorate all of Jenny's.

The fall mums are fully stocked.

We found a great place for lunch -

up on the hill overlooking main street.

An old-fashioned A & W Rootbeer Stand.

A bit of the story:

Roy W. Allen opened a roadside rootbeer stand

in Lodi, California in 1919,

using a formula he purchased from a pharmacist.

He soon owned stands in Stockton and Sacramento.

"Tray boys" pioneered drive-in curbside service.

In 1920 Allen teamed with Frank Wright,

birthing the A&W rootbeer brand name.

By 1960 there were 2000 A&W

stands in the United States.

Today there are about 600.

Marking the spot for the A&W sign
and REALLY good rootbeer floats.

A just because sometimes
we are silly when we are together.
And TODAY is the due date for Meatloaf.

Worship into the Week- SHINE

Worship into the Week-
 Ephesians 5:14-20

Walk in Love
Don't let the world sneak up on you.
Don't sleep through the days.
Awake! and Christ will shine on you.
"Look carefully how you walk,
not as unwise but as wise,
making the best use of time..."

Such good reminder to not fritter away the days.

Today I was blessed to finish up my worship into the week
with 7 and 4 year old grandsons.
We were able to talk about some of the lesson
and Griffin chose the Psalm 34:14
that goes with this week's lectionary
 to do in his Bible.
So I showed him how to letter it
and then he colored it in.
We talked about what it means to pursue-
 chase after- good things.

Gordon chose to work on another page.
Gordon picked the verse- Psalm 74:22-
Arise, O God, Defend your Cause.
He really liked to think about God
 defending something.

They have the Psalms and Gospels paperback from
Concordia Publishing House.
A blessing to spend time in God's Word with grandsons.

Hadley is Two!

Hadley is Two and Super Girl!

Thanks to the Wilson family

 for the great dress-up outfit.

A mom and dad Hadley sandwich.

                                  Papa and Gigi loved getting

to be a part of the celebration.

Hadley had great banners for her birthday celebration.
There were cake pops in pink
and pink decorated cupcakes and cookies.
She got some things for a big girl.
Hadley was gifted with the doll cradle that her mom
and aunties used to play with when THEY were little.
The small blanket on the bottom was made for
Great Grandma Florene Denninger by her mother.
The baby blanket with the pink was made
for Gigi (Grandma Connie) by her
Great Aunt Elizabeth Wendt when she was little.

And a lavender unicorn backpack.
Multiple celebrations were included
and saying hello to littlest cousin too.
A big crown with glitter
and some antique buttons for the princess.

Big cousins and brothers sing happy birthday.
Car seat for her baby. She loves it!!
So a new fashion style is to wear 5 undies
at a time and one on your head.
And a new set of tutus is waiting
for twirling and dancing and such.
Hadley Grace- all of God's goodness to you.
May you be blessed with a healthy next year.

Grandparenting Win

We love impromptu meal times together.
 Saying grace before a meal-
that's a win.
A simple dessert in red, white and blue
that brings SPIDEY smiles-
that's another win.
Folded hands and giving thanks after a meal-
that's a win.
"Thank you Gigi for dinner"- that's a win.

A bit of a cuddle helping with the SPIDEY treat-
that's a win.
Much to be thankful for and watching
 three little guys growing up-
 that's a win.

Worship into the Week- The New Life

Worship into the Week -
Ephesians 4:17-32, 5:1-2

The New Life
Paul speaks here that the truth in in Jesus.
Your old self belongs to your former manner of life.
We are to "be renewed in the spirit of of your minds
and to put on the new self,
created after the likeness of God
 in true righteousness and holiness."
It is pretty challenging to think of
 ourselves growing in holiness.
That is beyond our analysis of who we are,
how we live, and see ourselves in the world.
We need to set aside corrupt actions and talk.
God is doing a new thing.
The Holy Spirit has sealed our redemption.
Our code to follow is simply:
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another,
as God is Christ forgave you.
...Be imitators of God, as beloved children.
And walk in love, as Christ loved us
and gave himself up for us,
a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."
Does God expect some things from us
in this exchange of the new for the old?
Cooperation in this great work does moves us
 toward this "likeness of God
 in true righteousness and holiness."
How thankful that we are not in charge
of this great and might work.

Worship into the Week- ONE

Worship into the Week-

John 6-I AM the Bread of Life

Ephesians 4-Unity in the Body of Christ

Connecting the great I AM to

One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism, One God

Over all.

It is certainly not about me.

Thankful that this Lord brings a life with such fullness.

Even when this life is snagged in deep pain, and challenges-

there is the ONE who brings life without thirst or hunger.

Such grace gifted to me without measure.
