Scripture Doodles- January 2022

This month I set up a prayer month for the places
we were going to visit in Israel
for the Spiritual Pilgrimage we were leading.
We were very blessed to have our time there in 2022.
Many friends had their tours canceled
for the first part of January.
Four colored pencils was the plan.
I added the Bible Reference for my devotional time.
I used one square a day for a place we would visit.
The section at the bottom of the calendar
was for the overflow of sites we visited.

I loved having this Visual journey
 of our time in Israel.
It is a great way to share with others
where we have been on our trip.
I tell people that it is really the
Ultimate Visual Faith Experience.

Worship into the Week- One Body

Worship into the Week-
1 Corinthians 12:12-31a
 One Body with Many Members

This section of Scripture is an explanation
of the varied nature of God's Kingdom
and its members.
God's plan is that we work together.
That is the Kingdom way.
We need each other and their gifts- as
God's plan connects everybody.
We are certainly better together.

Worship into the Week-ExtraOrdinary

Worship into the Week-

John 2 and the Miracle
of the Water and the Wine

We drove by Cana yesterday
on our tour here in Israel and you could
see how close this city is to Nazareth.
We talked about the great event for the beginning
of the start of Jesus' ministry.
Some never caught on there was such
 an amazing extraordinary event.
But, the helpers for the feast knew.
The Master of the wedding feast knew.
They probably couldn't stop
 talking about it to others.
They had no answers for what they had seen.
Nothing made sense.
Jesus began his ministry of living counter culture.
Every day that followed lived that out.
Everyone around Cana heard of this story.
Today Cana is almost entirely
 an Arab Muslim community.
The city of this great miracle has forgotten.
As we drove beyond Cana,
I am reminded that we too, can be that close to forgetting.
We must keep telling the story of our great Jesus
and what He has done for each of us.

Worship into the Week- Newness of Life

Worship into the Week-
Romans 6:1-11
Dead to Sin, Alive to God

The Gospel lesson is the baptism of Jesus.
A water theme here with the story at the Jordan River
and our baptism in Christ Jesus.
That gift brings us the newness of life.
The news in Romans is that there is hope.
This Jesus who stood on the banks
 of the Jordan River hears
the words of His Father as the Spirit descends.
The Trinity manifested.
As I soon will stand at the Jordan myself,
I will think about that amazing moment in time.
  The people gathered there heard
and saw the Three Persons of the Trinity.
And in this perfection
we have been set free from sin.

Epiphany Blessings

Working on our Epiphany stars with 3 grandsons.
We practiced cutting and one
was very interested in the glue.
They also decided we should put eyes
on the stars so that the wise Men
could see Baby Jesus.
We talked about the traditional blessing
we could put above the doors in our homes.
The letters stand for the "traditional"
names for the Wise Men.
Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar.
They also mean Christus Mansionem Benedicat-
May Christ bless this house.
We can say a prayer for our families
in the New Year and ask the Lord to be with us.
The Wise Men have traveled far...

Epiphany Readings-Epistle-Ephesians 3: 1-12

New Testament- Matthew 2: 1-12

As we prepare to return to Israel,

may I remember the STAR that the wisemen saw

and rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

May that JOY of this Christ-Child

be the center of my worship.

Thanks to daughter -Laura Schumacher-

for your images for the readings for Worship into the Week.

 Vintage Epiphany postcards-

 most over 100 years old

gathered around a folding ruler

made into a STAR.

No need to travel far-

the Christ Child lives in my heart.

May you be blessed by our Heavenly Father

in this New Year of 2022.

Worship into the Week- Called Jesus

Worship into the Week -
Old Testament Reading- Numbers 6: 22-27
New Testament Reading- Luke 2:21

He was called Jesus.
The family of Jesus were faithful Jewish people.
They kept the law.
They took him to be circumcised
and "officially" named him what they had been told.
He was to be called Jesus-
as they were told before he was born.
As I thought about this story and the readings
for New Year's Day-
what a great reminder to be faithful parents.
The Aaronic Blessing is a perfect way
 to begin this new year.
"The bLord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you
 and be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you
and give you peace."

Worship into the Week- More Than Conquerors

Worship into the Week-New Year's Eve
Romans 8:31b-39- God's Everlasting Love

Readings for the end of the year service.

Not many churches have this gathering anymore.

But, it is very fitting to pause to have a reflective moment

 as the year closes out.

So many things have kept us separated this year-

 from people, events, choices.

So many times we might have felt-

 abandoned, lost, and distressed.

We DO need reminded that God's everlasting love

for us serves as a restart, recharge reminder.

So much of these last two years has been spent fearful

of something we can not see.

We only see the results- the sick, the hurting,

those in the hospital and the death notices.

Lord, have mercy on us when we waiver.

Keep hope planted in our hearts.

Do not let us stumble when we feel distant from you.

Give us the courage to stand with might,

-as conquerors-because we stand with you.

Welcome 2022! Let us go boldly!

Scripture Doodles- December 2021

Scripture Doodles - for December 2021
Still using the devotional-  The Reservoir by Renovate.
AS I look back over these devotions
in these uncertain and unsettled times-
the word that comes forward for this month is:

SO many things I cannot be sure of these days:

 Health, travel, events, economy.

SO many things I can be sure of in these days:

God's love, eternal life, and unending grace-

 to name a few.

If I sit down to make my list,

the ASSURED list is far greater.

That is what I will hang on

to for this new year of 2022.
