Worship into the Week- Be Glad and Rejoice

Worship into the Week-

Isaiah 25:6-9  Be Glad and Rejoice

There is a lavish banquet of rich food and

aged wine that has been prepared

by the LORD of Heaven's Armies.

The setting is Mount Zion and it is for

"all peoples." This is a joyous event and symbolizes

covenant relationship and restoration.

God will destroy the "cloud of gloom" and

"shadow of death" as He "swallows up death forever."

God comforts the people and removes

the disgrace of insults and mocking.

The response is overwhelming as the people

 trust God and their salvation.

Their waiting on God through suffering is finally

revised with the promise that God will permanently

undo their sorrow.

We see this passage as a prophecy

of the resurrection of Jesus Christ

and the final defeat of death.

So, let us be glad and rejoice!

Worship into the Week- The LORD's Vineyard

Worship into the Week-

 Isaiah 5:1-7-

A song about the LORD's vineyard.

This parable is a love song where God is the landowner and

the people of Israel- Judah are the vineyard.

Preparations are made and tending is done by God

who takes care of things with love and care.

Rocks are dug up, planting happens with the best vines.

There is even a watchtower and winepress built.

Even with all of this care and the best of everything,

the vineyard fails.

There are stinking grapes and not a sweet harvest.

God asks- "What more could I have done?"

He proclaims that He has done it all

and now will remove hedges,

trample down walls and let it be overgrown.

He will let the divine protection go away.

God expected to see justice and found oppresion.

God expected to find righteousness and got violence.

Certainly harsh judgment here,
but God has the best intent for His people.
There is the good news promised
in His Word of restoration coming.
We must always look to the light and hope
 even on really hard days.

The Gospel of John and the Art of Sally Beck- Part 5

John 9:30

He opened my eyes!!
In this story Jesus meets a man who was born blind.
He spits on the ground to make mud with saliva,
puts it on the man's eyes
and tells him to wash in the Pool of Siloam.
After the man obeys, he can see for the first time.
An amazing miracle.

John 4:14
The Water That I Will Give

Jesus meets the Samaritan woman at the well.
They have a conversation that would have been
"not normal" in this Jewish world.
Jesus teaches that the deepest spiritual longings
 are satisfied only by Him.
He brings eternal life and the indwelling
of the Holy Spirit that meets all
 the longings of "belonging."

John 13:35

Your Strong Love for Each Other Will Show

to the World that You are my Disciples.

This is from the Last Supper when Jesus

washes the feet of the disciples

and gives them the New Commandment.

This is from the wedding in Cana
when Jesus performed His first miracle.
It would all be different now-
as He began His "public ministry."

These are artist Sally Beck images in a journal that

I have been working in for awhile.

I have added some mixed media things

and enjoy the slow down time

thinking about these stories.

Some time to sit and imagine the settings and the people

and sit in wonder and awe of Jesus

working in the Kingdom.

Worship into the Week- Turn and Live

Worship into the Week-
Ezekiel 18:1-4, 25-32
Turn and Live

There was a popular saying among the Israelites
who were exiled in Babylon.
They were innocent and did not have blame
for the sins of their ancestors.
The proverb say that parents have eaten sour grapes,
and the children have the sour taste also.
It became an excuse for their behavior
and the shedding of any accountability.
God states that "the soul that sins shall die."
Each generation must live with their own blame
in the present and not any inherited wrong doing.

The people claimed then that God
was not fair and not just.
A pretty mighty accusation of GOD!
His response questions about who is unjust.
If there is a righteous person who becomes evil,
they will die for their wicked ways.
If a wicked person turns away from sin-
 they will live.
God hands out grace with a call to repentance.
Repent, turn back,
change your direction.
God does not desire the death of anyone.
He seeks to welcome them when they have
"a new heart and a new spirit."
What a generous opportunity He gives-
 turn and live.
