Advent Mixings

Once in awhile a time of waiting
gets interfaced with real life- waiting-
the coming of this Advent King-
and the waiting for the events
here in our earthly realm.

Some natural elements brought together
for a wreath in the carport turned garage.

all garages need Christmas love, right?

And on an old wooden ironing board-
the green worn tool box rests
 with pine cones and pomegranates
some green branches and the white light twinkles.

the amaryllis red
signals season changes
in the dining room-
 preparing- getting ready

and a Christmas cactus in neon color just finishing up

And on a Monday- Dec 9-
the time of waiting came with
the oral defense
with a committee of three
 at Concordia University Chicago,
River Forest, Illinois

And the work of seven years-
  the research of the
Journey of Faith-
Connecting the Spiritual Formation of Women
and the Story of Social Media Gospel.

And I head out to join the graduates
to celebrate a degree-
Masters in Church and Community Leadership.

And time of listening to His call,
His leading,
 in an act of obedience,
and a call to
be shaped
for His use in the Kingdom.

And Giving thanks to God
for His faithfulness- indeed.

  1. Waiting allows us to savor the outcome in a way that wouldn't be possible otherwise. I think of it as one of God's "upside-down" gifts. Congratulations!

  2. Good for you, Connie. Dave and I offer our congratulations both for your degree and for your perserverance.

  3. I have lots of Judy friends and would love to know which one this is!

  4. Congratulations, Connie! We continue to reap the fruits of your leadership at Prince of Peace and give thanks for the awarding of your degree and for the greater church who benefits from your gifts!

Thanks for adding your thoughts and comments- they are greatly appreciated.
