Gruene, Texas

Catching up on some out and abouts-
Gruene, Texas.

A Bed and breakfast that catches the eye

The Saloon and Social Hall
Just saw this on the back page of my County Living magazine- Feb 2014- featuring this very spot- so had to add this to this post

A welcoming fire on a cold and rainy day

Enjoying the sights in this quaint Texas town

on to a favorite spot- the Grist Mill for lunch

This spectacular
restaurant nestled
under the shade of
towering oak trees
and has been the
perfect getaway for
a unique casual dining experience for thirty years.

Situated on the banks of the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels
between Austin and San Antonio, the Gruene cotton gin processed
crops raised by area farmers until the wooden structure burned to the
ground in 1922.  All that remains of the water-powered mill today is
the three story brick boiler room – now the Gristmill
River Restaurant & Bar.
these Pre-Thanksgiving pumpkins
still marked the season

Wild Turkey fireplace
adornment

and of course-BBQ on the menu

and stars mark just about everything-

Planters of snapdragons still looked lovely

Yup- this is Texas- but…..

  1. Loved the Gruen post! I had lunch there with my Valpo roommates last year during a girl's weekend in San Antonio. The Grist Mill Restaurant was a treat!
