A City Set on a Hill

You are the Light of the world.

 A city set on a hill cannot be hid.

Nor do men light a lamp and put it 

under a bushel, but on a stand,

 and it gives light to all in the house.

 Let your light shine before men,

 that they may see your

 good works

 and give glory

to your Father

 who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:13-15

An evening walk to the water's edge

 where we were staying at Nof Ginosar
 had this view in the distance.
This will always be the image now in my mind
 when I read these verses.
Perhaps it was this very hill, 
and lights set like this on the horizon
that Jesus saw and described to his followers.
They knew this city too.

Set high
Lighting up a dark world-
on a stand.
To bring Him Glory.
