Worship into the Week- Nothing Too Hard for the Lord

  Worship into the Week-

Genesis 18:1-14

A Son is Promised to Sarah

In this ready we have the Lord appearing to Abraham

near the oaks of Mamre, accompanied by two other men.

Abraham sees the extraordinary

and recognizes the divine presence.

He humbly offers his hospitality with food and rest.

During the meal, one of the men identified as the Lord

shares the promise of a son to them within a year.

Sarah hears this and laughs in disbelief

and the Lord calls her out about this reaction.

The LORD reminds them both about His power.

"Is anything too hard for the LORD?"

Just as Abraham holds back nothing in his generosity

with the strangers, so God will withhold nothing

 in making true His promises.

We might be tempted to laugh in outrageous circumstances,

but nothing will intervene in the plan of God for each of us.

So in the hard places- look to the promise keeper.

Don't let the Lord pass by- watch for His presence.

Worship into the Week- Regard for the Weak

Worship into the Week-

Psalm 41- A Psalm of David

v.1 "Blessed is the one who considers the poor." ESV

v.1 "Oh the joys of those who are kind to the poor." NLT

v.1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak." NIV

Kind of stopped me right there this week.

I have been wondering alot about what is happening in the world,

and what makes God sad about how the poor and weak

are being treated. Nothing new in the scheme of things

of the generations but it seems heightened to me.

I often think that my practice of spending time with

 Worship lectionary readings

is actually "Worship into the Weak."

I am the weak one often in faith, compassion, patience,

and generosity.

I need this time in the Word, because I am weak.

Then I think of those who don't have God's Word,

or a Bible. They might be in a place of harm

and they are just trying to survive.

I think that a bit better understanding of my weakness

would help me be more understanding of the others

who are weak and poor.

Lord, be gracious to me that I may see all those poor in heart,

and spirit, and life necessities, and be moved to reach out,

encourage and give.

Worship into the Week- Comfort

Worship into the Week- Comfort

As a mother comforts her child,

the Lord will comfort His people.

Jerusalem will be a river of peace and prosperity.

Isaiah 66 is a message of hope for those who seek God

while also warning of the consequences

of rejecting His ways.

It points to a future where God's glory will be revealed

to all, and His kingdom will be established

on a renewed earth.

4th of July- 2025

Some very cute critters for 4th of July this year.
Some great face painting at our church--thanks Arla!

We watched the fireworks at the Springfield Country Club
from our church parking lot across the street.
They were great and we wondered why
we have only gone to see them the last 2 years.
Thanks Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for hosting!
Spotting some red, white and blue
for this season in the house.
Many of the these decorations
I have had for over 30 years.

This early summer I found this copper bucket,
added spindles for fillers and hand-sewn flags
and stars that I purchased for $2 each.
Love them all together.
Olde Glory and friends.

Vintage postcards have now met
 the 100 year old mark.
The carport refresh has a red, white
and blue spruce up.

Didn't use to do much decorating for 4th of July
 in the early years.
Then son-in-law Daniel joined the family.
He has a July birthday and is slightly obsessed
with 4th of July things.
He has a special birthday this year
and we will be hanging for a few days with our family.
So, thought I would pull out all the stops
and celebrate this fine young man.

I give thanks for our God and country
that we may at all times give Him glory.
Amen

Worship into the Week- Listen

Worship into the Week- 1 Kings 19:9b-21
The LORD Speaks to Elijah

A synopsis of this section shares the interaction
between God and Elijah.
Elijah's encounter with God at Mount Horeb,
where he experiences God's presence in a still,
small voice after powerful interactions with nature.
God then tells Elijah to anoint a new king of Aram,
who will serve as the new king of Israel.
God then commissions Elijah to anoint
a new king of Aram,
who will serve as the new king of ram.
These dreams also suggest that God
desires Elisha as the prophetic successor of Elijah.
Elijah finds Elisha plowing and anoints him
by casting his cloak over him,
symbolizing his call to ministry.
We see in this section God's provision
for His prophets, even in moments
of discouragement and transition,
and the call to discipleship and service.
God has a time of renewal for Elijah,
with the commissioning of him with new tasks,
and the calling of Elisha to succeed Elijah in ministry.
The story also helps us to see the importance
of listening to God's
 voice and direction.
It is the best plan.
