Advent- On the Journey

Part way through Advent--
 marking blue days-
one tiny image each day -
with a word from
 my devotional reading.
 Downloaded a calendar
 from Sybil Macbeth's blog-
advent-calendar-2014-

A book published in 1992
by a beautiful artist and writer-
Sarah Hornsby.
The heart Journey-
 only possible
when Jesus is in the
quiet moment transformations
that add up to the
following Jesus
lifestyle.
On tiny step-
 at a time.

Advent- Creative Haven

A Creative Gathering in the Home
started as a one evening event.
This week it became a 2 day- 10 am- 9 pm
 Open Studio.

Then we added three more days
 in the week
to the Creative Adventure.

With a vision of seasonal gatherings,
and plenty of wrapping paper covered
cereal and cracker boxes.

Wire handles to hang for display.
Copies of 100 year old Christmas postcards,
tulle and Dollar Store ornaments.

Old hymnal pages,
a few bells
and tissue paper flowers.

Paper medallions,
pearls,
and tissue paper cut
 with a fringing scissors.

Christmas Ideals magazines
in the stock pile from the 1940's and 50's.
Wonderful images and
beautiful colors for collage work.

Some doilies, felt hearts,
ribbons,
 burlap and a
snowflake or two.

A full table of "FINDINGS"
With wonderful conversation,
music and stories galore.
A perfect ADVENT gathering.

What a blessing.
Moms and daughters.
Neighbors and friends.

Catching up and making new connections.
And in the middle of it ALL-
this baby Jesus Gift.

Advent- Immanuel, God with Us

  Reading this book as part
of my Advent focus this year.
Found it in a library book sale.
Sarah Hornsby is a wonderful Christian artist.
The line drawings are "doable"
for me to use as basis for my Bible Journaling.
Trying to reach her to thank her for her inspiration.
Her website is:sarah-hornsby

Because an angel of the Lord
appeared to Joseph in a dream-
and a man obeyed.
God's mighty will would prevail in all things.
But, Joseph allowed himself to be a part of the story.

How does the Holy Spirit
"speak" to me today?
God's Word is alive and active.
How might my ADVENT YES-
give me the opportunity to participate in
the blessing of God's work in the world today?

That I may Live each and every day-
 Immanuel dwelling-
GOD WITH US-
in my heart.

Advent- Reign of the Branch

Bible Marginalia- #36

First Sunday of Advent
Beginning of the New Church Year

One of the Readings in worship was Isaiah 11:1-2

"There shall come forth a shoot
 from the stump of Jesse
and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit,
and the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him."

Our church celebrates with BLUE
  as the Liturgical color
 for the ADVENT season.
The beginning of the liturgical year.
This time of the church year signifies-
HOPE.

It is a time of waiting and preparing.
Preparing for His second coming.

A Jesse tree with ornaments might
show some of the people and objects
that help to illustrate
the story of Old Testament prophecy
 tied to New Testament fulfillment.
