Bible Marginalia Series- #63
Sometimes the study of a series
of Bible passages
causes a song to erupt in our hearts.
Here daughter, Jessica,
was looking at the story of Samuel
and the defeat of the Philistines.
He sets aside a space
to be called "Ebenezer"-
remembering-
"Till now the Lord has helped us."
Yes, Lord,
"Come thou
"Come thou

Tune my heart to sing Thy grace.
Streams of mercy never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Here's my heart, Lord, take and seal it.
Seal it for thy courts above."

and hymnist Robert Robinson

So I will call upon your name-
and keep my eyes above the waves.
When oceans rise,
my soul will rest in your embrace.
For I am yours and you are mine.
Spirit lead me where
my trust is without borders.
Let me walk upon the waters

in the presence of my Savior.
Music adds so much to
worship for many of us.
It is often the glue

Two songs-
written hundreds of years apart.
Still speaks to our hearts-
in the margins of our Bible.
As we worship Him-
with heart, mind, and soul.
Thank you Jessica,
for sharing your heart.
