Worship into the Week-
Who is the Greatest?
Matthew 18:1-7
Jesus had a way of turning things upside down.
Children weren't highly valued
and when Jesus raises their status,
it doesn't make sense to the disciples.
He was trying to help them see
that it wasn't status or great learning
that brought greatness in the kingdom.
It was the child-like faith
of a child that Jesus elevated.
Humility brings greatness in the kingdom.
Jesus also speaks a dire warning
about harming children.
A millstone and drowning is a better fate
than what awaits those who hurt children.
Certainly a pretty plain outline for our society
that Jesus sees children as precious.
A wonderful reminder of a valuable lesson
to teach our children.
