Jesus Walks on the Water
Matthew 14:22-33
Some immediate things happening here.
Getting the disciples in the boat.
Going to the other side.
Dismissing the crowds.
Going away to the mountain to pray.
The disciples in the boat on a rocky sea.
Jesus comes to them in the dark of night.
Walking on the water.
They cry out in fear.
Immediately Jesus calls out to them.
Peter checks if it is Jesus.
Jesus says- Come.
Peter walks on the water too.
But, he gets distracted by the waves.
He begins to sink.
Immediately Jesus reaches out his hand
and takes hold of Peter.
Jesus says- why did you doubt?
They get into the boat and the wind ceases.
The disciples worship Jesus.
"Truly you are the son of God."
Lord, give me the courage
to never take my eyes off of you.
Even in the storm.
Give me courage.
Amen.
